CityScape Receives American School & University
Special Citation

12.9.10
CityScape Engineering and Surveying, PC was awarded a Special Citation for Union City High School Roosevelt Stadium project in Union, NJ. CityScape was responsible for the planning and feasibility studies with the redevelopment agency, architects, and others to develop a workable plan. Its services included: surveys, planning, feasibility studies, major utility relocation and extension, storm water management, site plans, and permits.

The American School and University 2010 Jury cited the project as "an innovative design solution for urban space utilization. The building compact, yet full of daylighting."

The new high school was made of cast-in place concrete, brick, aluminum windows,
light-gauge framing and drywall, along with 4,400 tons of steel. It will also house health-screening and child-care centers; recreational facilities including a 21,000-sq-ft gymnasium; performing arts auditorium which seats about 1,000; and 200 parking spaces. The 366,000-square-foot school replaced two existing high schools and a 4-acre playing field as part of a citywide redevelopment program intended to revitalize the school district and surrounding area.

Architects: RSC Architects, Cliffside Park, NJ
Cost: $178 million
